As you may know, I’ve been keeping an eye on the whole plan to redevelop The Main between Ste. Catherine and René-Lévesque as part of the whole Quartier des Spectacles project. At risk are the Eastern strip of businesses and merchants who have been asked to leave their stomping grounds so as to make way for an office tower.

As you could imagine, most tenants and owners are more than reluctant to abandon ship. Although petitions have been signed, public consultations had, and awareness spread there hasn’t been much progress.

That’s why this Saturday, July 18, artists, merchants, tenants, sex workers, and urbanists from the area will be holding a rally at Place de la Paix. Among those present will be McGill psychiatrist Dr. Jean-Dominique Leccia as well as alternative arts guru, Eric Paradis.

The rally will be taking place between 10 am and Noon. For more details you can jump over to
